APPLIED MINDFULNESS IN HEALTH AND EATING
Exploring Innovative Ideas for Wellbeing
At the Applied Mindfulness in Health and Eating Lab, we are interested in a range of concepts and ideas, with a central aim of improving health through practical and inclusive applications. Our findings have been widely published in numerous peer-reviewed academic journals. Our aim is to continue our collaborative and caring relationship with the public and our clinical associates.

Our mission is to make research findings available to people who are in need of self-care interventions and practices, and to work closely and enable clinical staff with tools and interventions that will improve the care of their patients.
HEALTH-RELATED AREAS OF RESEARCH
The Lab has a wide range of expertise, and some of the research is aligned with specific researchers.  Please get in touch for more information, interventions and tools.
COMPASSION & SELF-COMPASSION
Research with the general population and healthcare professionals

SELF-CARE AND SELF-KINDNESS FOR BODY AND MIND
Exploring health theories and ways of developing health behaviour change
EDUCATION AND HIGHER EDUCATION RESEARCH
Research looking into the wellbeing of both teachers and students, and explorations of how to facilitate academic performance.
RESEARCH AREAS MORE ALIGNED TO MINDFULNESS-BASED PRACTICES.
MINDFULNESS PRACTICES
This is a research area that is inclusive of different practices, including meditation, colouring and knitting. Enquiries relate to the efficiency of practices, and the development of alternative practices, to enhance physical and mental health and performance.
MINDFUL (AND ATTENTIVE) EATING
Here we explore the improvement of eating behaviours, such as emotional eating, and test different interventions and practices to aid people in focusing on being fully present during eating experiences.
ATTENTION (AND COGNITION)
This area is descriptive of both wellbeing and eating practices, and the ability to enhance our understanding behind attentional processes more specifically. Here, we are looking more into the mechanics of interventions and practices, rather than the development and testing of our research.
